The names of the five Fort Bliss soldiers killed in Afghanistan on Saturday have been released.The soldiers were on patrol in Kandahar province when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb.

It’s always horrible to hear about people losing their lives, and today it hits closer to home, 2 of the soldiers were people you very well may have played Aion with. Pooface and Dunks. I remember being in vent with Poo specifically running around Eltnen when the guards were up, pvping and laughing. Please pray and think of their families today. A very sad day.

Their friends and loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. ♥

I can’t find anything on this, so does anyone know what the distribution looks like at 4.0 forts?

4 tiers of of reward:

Top 10 - Class 1 box - Gives 2-4 new medals, 1 random grade of ancient crown and 1 of the new level 65 stigmas.

Top 20 - Class 2 box - Gives 1-2 new medals and 1 random grade of ancient goblet.

Top 30 - Class 3 box - Gives 4 mithril medals and 1 random grade of ancient seal.

Top 90 - Class 4 box - Gives 2 mithril medals and 1 random grade of ancient icon.

In part 3 they’ve recently edited this further to incorporate more players, like I think max is like 120 or 150. This is the version we should receive when we first get 4.0 though.

Gatherable Morphing Recipes

I haven’t seen a list posted anywhere and figured this was as good a place as any to share. ^_^

Ever since I started attending fort sieges way back when, I discovered that the fort quartermaster had morphing recipes that I could use to morph pretty much any gatherable from DP and corresponding form of Aether. How neat is that? (comes in handy when I’m crafting and come up just a couple mats short!)

So, I soon started keeping a list of which ones I could acquire where. When I rerolled from Elyos to Asmodian, I expanded my list to include both factions’ recipes for each fort (where applicable).

Traveling performers bearing gifts

I logged into Aion tonight and saw the following message:

I hopped over to Pandaemonium, and sure enough, this odd-looking troupe was standing in front of Temple of Gold:

Seems it’s a new event that was quietly added. From what I’ve seen, you get a daily quest for a Traveling Performer’s Die which can give you a random numbered item every 30 minutes. Numbers 1-4 can be anything from cute transformation candies to firework emotes, but the ones that are most valuable are numbers 5 and 6. If you have each of these, you combine them to receive a Shiny Gift Box. So far I’ve received a potion mix (AP mana and hp, greater healing pots, fine hp and mana, etc.) and a 4k recovery scroll.

Both numbers 5 and 6 are tradable, as well as the Shiny Gift Box. I have seen the numbers on the Broker and the boxes in stores all over Panda, so be sure to check your capital city for both the NPCs and event items for sale! Also, since the items are all level 30 and above, I am assuming that this is the minimum level for participation (I have no lower alts to confirm this). If you have level 30+ toons, be sure to do this on all of them!

Is anyone else participating in this event? If so, what goodies have you gotten so far? ^_^

I ran across this thread in the Aion forums by Slyders of Israphel’s PsyKoPaTs. I remember these guys from my Elyos days and am happy to see a few friends are still playing. Well anyways, they are sharing one of their legion resources with the community: Aion Tool’s Character Viewer.

So far I am very impressed with this tool and though it seems to have a few bugs here and there, works VERY well for my needs: looking up other players’ gear/build. ^_^

Bard stigma and skills info

I ran across this via Cruellia’s blog: Insurance’s post with a complete listing (PDF) of Bard skills, from level 1-60, found via YouTube. I’m already planning to roll a Bard as soon as 4.0 hits, and if it’s half as fun as it sounds, it may be my new main once it’s leveled up. XD

Even if you don’t plan on playing one, I highly recommend reading up on the skill list anyways. While this class looks fun, facing one will be quite the challenge if the player knows his/her class well!

Shugo Adventure Time

If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new temporary instance available that started with today’s maintenance: Shugo Imperial Tomb. A little different from your typical instance, this one is available only until March 27th. According to the event instance page: “While inside, you will be transformed into a Shugo and receive special abilities only available inside the instance. Your main objective is to protect the ancient protection towers from the waves of looters that will try to destroy them. Special crowd control and tower-healing consumables can be found off of the spirit enemies that appear in-between waves for an easier time. Protect the middle tower long enough and boss monsters will appear to try and destroy it. Defeat them to earn map pieces, keys, and tickets into one of the three treasure rooms.”

Basic instance info:
- Players: Two or Three
- Required level: 51-60
- Re-entry Time: 9:00am Daily

Rewards range from statted Eternal Wings with special skins to Stormwing weapons and armor, Mithril Medals, Abyss Relics, or even a time-limited pet that can give L60 Composite Manastones.

Valor was kind enough to post a strategy guide in the forums here, so be sure to read up before stepping into the fray!

Be sure to read all of the info on the links posted above, as this instance will be gone before month’s end!

Aion introduces Combat Lockboxes

Announced late last night on the Aion site, a new event kicks off a permanent addition to the world of Atreia:

On Wednesday, January 30th, Combat Lockboxes will arrive in Atreia! Enemies all over Atreia will have a chance to drop these awesome treasure boxes. To open the box, you will need a key. You can acquire these keys from monsters, other players, or the Black Cloud Marketplace. You will need to locate a key quickly, because these magical boxes will disappear if not opened within 24 hours!

These treasure boxes will drop in Eltnen, Morheim, Inggison, Gelkmaros, Sarpan, Tiamaranta and in the Abyss. They will not drop in lower level zones or in Tiamaranta’s Eye (they will drop in the Eye in the future :)). These treasure boxes also drop in most of the dungeons that you already love! Hunt for these boxes in your favorite dungeons this Wednesday!

Lockboxes are a permanent addition to the world of Atreia! These combat lockboxes will be available throughout the month of February. Look for new lockboxes in March and April! The lockboxes will rotate on a monthly basis, so you will always have more chances at these great items! Check out the list to see what treasures can be unlocked from these Combat Lockboxes!

In the Aion forums, Nyx went on to clarify a few things about these boxes:

Keys are 279 NCoin. They are tradeable between players and can also drop in the world. You have the opportunity to find one, to buy one for kinah from someone who found one, to buy one for kinah from someone who bought it in the BCMP, or to buy it in the BCMP yourself. We felt that giving you all these different options to get keys would make them completely obtained by all possible means.

I just wished the running scrolls to be sure - they are the cash shop 1 hour ones (I know - still not the best prize ever, but better than just 5 normal ones!)

The transformation boxes contain transform candy. Bounding and Super Shugo candy come from those.

The Courier pass bundles have the ability to give you any of the different ones available in terms of level and grade. I opened 7 boxes and got 2 sets of eternal 51-55, 3 sets of fabled 51-55, 1 set fabled 50 and lower, and 1 set eternal 56-60. It seems to have a decent distribution of the different kinds considering I only opened 7 boxes and still got that wide of a variety.

A lower level character can get a drop from these boxes that is a higher level weapon, but will be unable to use it until they reach the correct level.

All items that can come from the boxes have been listed.

The abyss courier bundles work the same as the regular. Ability to drop across different level ranges and grades of weapons.

The godstone bundles give gold godstones - there are 17 listed which I am assuming are all possible gold godstones available (sorry don’t have the trivia piece memorized!)

Dragon Lord’s Weapon Box contains a mythic weapon. Distorted Dragon Lord’s Weapon Box contains an eternal weapon. Just in case you were unclear on the concept of RNG here, those two items are the rarest drops out of the combat lockboxes (since they are the best items). Believe me everyone and their grandma will not be running around with a mythic weapon out of this box anytime soon. Yes, people will get them. No, it will not be tons and tons of people. Think of it like winning the lottery :)

Yes the boxes will rotate. One has a theme of wealth and gives various types of currency (coins, meals, symbols, insignias) while another box features items geared towards socketing/enchanting. The lower tier items like mounts, supplements, candy, scrolls - will be consistent across all of the boxes - only the top tiers of items will change.

On that note I will go ahead and say that the keys are specific to each box. The keys for February go with the February boxes. They will not open the March boxes. However, if you end up with unused February keys, those boxes will cycle around and become available again (in May). We will warn more as time goes along, but putting it out here at the very beginning - don’t stock up ridiculous amounts of keys unless you are prepared to wait for the boxes to come back around.

They will not drop in Haramel, NTC, Muada’s Trencher, Satra Treasure Hoard, Tiamat Stronghold, Dragon Lord’s Refuge, Hexway, T dredge or any level Crucible.

The drop rate is higher in instances than in the regular world and everything in the instance can drop them.

Woot, good news! The Mozilla Add-ons team approved my latest update for the Aionfox addon for Firefox to version 1.3.2. In this update, I cleaned out some old or non-functioning links and updated FX max version to 18.

If you already have Aionfox installed, you may have already been prompted to update. If not, you can visit the Aionfox website or the Mozilla site directly to install my addon.

I recently added the following blurb to my About Me page, and wanted to share here as well in case anyone is interested in helping:

I have recently joined the Aion Wiki site and am attempting to assist the editors in adding and updating content of all types about Aion. If you’re familiar with Wikis and/or would like to help, come on by! Even if you’re not familiar with Wiki editing, but have knowledge about the game, you can still help. The interface is easy to use and the other editors are always quick to lend a hand if needed. ^_^
