I just got an email from NCsoft promoting the new event that began with today’s maintenance.
Go see the event page for a complete list of details, but the gist is instances bosses for Fire Temple and up drop these cards, with 60+ instances having best drop rate. Collect 10 cards to turn in for a Fabled Mysterious Reward Box. Prizes include the following:
I missed the first couple days of 4.5 due to work, but have spent last night and today leveling up one of the new AetherTechs. I am LOVING this class. I don’t know about whether or not I’ll level it to 65, but so far it has been VERY fun! ^_^
Everyone, meet my mech: Harleykink. XD
I was really tempted to call her HarleySmash … and that is still a possibility for the future. XD
I’ll apologize now for the choppy post, I’m posting this from the road. Got the email today that the next installment, 4.5: Steel Cavalry, hits next week! (told you so, Doodles! ;)) See the linky linky below for more info!
I love my chanter. It’s a good thing I’m chain because I facetank stuff and, quite frankly, enjoy beating the hell out of things. One of my legionmates often says to me “Hey Harley, go smashy smashy!” (yeah, like I need an excuse to go hit things! LOL)
I was bored and thought “Hey, I’ll go take some artifacts.” XD
Someone then asks, “Why is Harley taking things in the Abyss?” and I’m invited to run something with the legion so I’ll “stop hitting things” LOL, yeah right. ;)
So everyone knows that there are rewards for mentoring lowbies and generally helping them out. Well, did you know that you get rewards for coming to their rescue in certain zones?
Back when I was staying 50, I always loved answering the call of “Elyos invading Morheim/Beluslan!” by lowbies in LFG. Even though now we have the Fast Track Server, often times you’ll still see lowbies being picked on by higher level rifters. To encourage others to come help out, war quests were implemented:
Today while semi-afk, I was watching LFG and saw a lowbie posting a “Help!” message for Elyos in Morheim. I whispered that I was on my way and asked for a location. He/She whispered back where they were killed while questing with friends and mentioned that they were being griefed continually. I found the group of Elyos (most of whom were red to me!) and with the help of a few others, wiped them out. The pink Elyos I left to the lower leveled players to kill, but if you’re red to me, you’re dead. :)
(and might I add that the level of players being griefed was 20-28 max! o.O)
These quests are gained automatically when you enter a zone where a rift is open and the other faction may be invading. While you can do these at almost any level, it’s great incentive for “highbies” to come to the aid of lowbies. :)
Anyways, I went to turn in my war quest and received a Greater Ancient Crown and plat medal reward. Nom nom! ^_^
So, to lowbies, use the Fast Track Server to avoid rifters, but if you must use the Standard Server, please post reports of rifters! Elyos make tasty snacks! ;)
I’ve had two people from my legion ask me this week about making Pepento Juice. To those of you not familiar with this food, it’s a drink that became available with the 4.0 patch. I have the recipe and when I relay the ingredients to anyone inquiring, most then immediately say “Never mind, I’ll go back to Drupa Cocktails” or some similar drink buff.
I don’t blame them honestly. The ingredients for the 4.0 cooking recipes are down right ridiculous. I mean, look at this:
But, but, BUT! I am quick to tell anyone and wanted to post this on here to remind y’all that there is an equivalent item for a recipe that became available back in patch 1.9: Kuvano Juice.
The recipe is the exact same for both factions, and is acquired from the Ordnance Quartermaster in Ingisson/Gelkmaros. All three ingredients are found in Taloc’s Hollow. The Kuvano is gathered, the Poisoned Taloc Leaf is a drop, and the Kuvano Oil can be purchased from an NPC inside the instance named Dorkin.
Granted, you may be able to buy these items off the broker if someone else has obtained them. Otherwise, you will need to run the instance. Note: most mobs in this instance are levels 51 and 52. I buy the leaves off the broker and go in the instance to gather the Kuvano and buy Kuvano Oil when necessary.
The Kuvano nodes are found in the following locations:
(click the image to see a larger version)
Each run nets me 10 Kuvano. I have 3 toons that are high enough to run this instance and gather the items; if done daily, I could get 210 Kuvano per week. :)
To get to Dorkin to buy Kuvano Oil, kill the named mob Neith to get Dorkin’s Pocket Knife.
Then go to the locked door hidden behind the waterfall to enter Dorkin’s Nook:
So there ya go, an alternative to a 4.0 drink buff that’s easier to get/make. ^_^
Instance monsters will have a chance to drop Aion Signet Boxes. Signet Boxes will give you a random heart piece, with the Signet Piece: N being slightly more rare. Combine the four required pieces to create the Forged Aion Signet. Open the Signet for a random reward.
The instances with the best Aion Signet Boxes drop rate are Sauro Supply Base, Steel Rose, Eternal Bastion, and Ophidan Bridge.
Aion Signet boxes will also be available on the store.
Once a day per account, you can pick up a signet box for 1 Ncoin!
During the event, watch our social and community sites, where we’ll be giving away not just boxes, but more prizes as well!
Collect and Combine the four heart pieces from the Signet Boxes for the following prizes:
While the Harvest Revel spirit hasn’t arrived in Ateria yet, we’re getting the spooky spirit started with our first ever pumpkin carving contest! The top three winning entries we choose will each receive (1) permanent not yet available pet, a Harvest Saam!
- How to Participate -
Carve one pumpkin with an Aion theme. It can be anything related to Aion and please keep it appropriate.
Take a picture of your carving with a hand-written or computer-generated note wishing Aion a “Happy Harvest Revel!” along with your character name and server.
Email your submission to aion_community[at]ncsoft.com with the email subject “Aion Harvest Revel Pumpkin Carving.” In the email body, please include your character name and server.
The picture must not be edited or altered in any way and any submissions deemed plagiarized will be disqualified from the event.
The three carvings that show the most creativity, originality, or that best represent Aion will win (1) Harvest Saam pet. The Harvest Saam pet has 30-storage slots and will alert its owner of nearby enemies.
The past couple of months I have been having internet issues preventing me from really playing my toons. Basically, every 3-5 minutes I would have about a minute or minute and a half where my lag would spike up to about 1100 or 1200 ms. This made PVPing impossible, along with pretty much anything else that required active participation.
I’ve been a very sad panda. :(
I’ve gone back and forth between NCsoft support and my ISP. Both claimed the issue could only be addressed by the other. To NCsoft’s credit, their support was able to help me pinpoint where the issue was occurring — basically, I’m experiencing nearly complete packet loss on a couple IP addresses between my ISP and the Aion server. However, from that point, no one wanted to claim responsibility, so I was stuck.
Several people have told me that I should just “wait it out” to see if the issue corrects itself. Given me being busy with the new job and other things going on, I’ve just been biding my time, leveling up my bard since I could solo everything on her. She’s now got 4/5 on the Forgotten Siel’s set and 3/5 on her Kahrun set. She’ll ding 59 likely tonight, and that’s without me really trying to level her. She still has all her campaigns left, so once I finish those sets, I’ll do her campaigns, then do the Gelk 4mil coin repeats and bloodmarks from 60-65.
I decided to bite the bullet and switch my ISP this week. I’m not happy with it, because I’ll be paying the same amount of money for less speed. BUT! I’m looking forward to being back on my main and PVPing again.
Anyways! I’m in a new legion and plan to be playing as much as possible as soon as the internet is fixed. So hooray for that!
I just got home a few minutes ago to find that today’s maintenance took much longer than was expected, but am presented with the pleasant surprise of another event! Per the Aion news page:
The Brax Café is open for business! For two weeks only, the café is giving out samples of their food to all patrons. Come in everyday from October 9 through the 23rd and dine free!
Start the event by first speaking to the Café Promoter in Sanctum or Pandaemonium. You must be at least level 21 to participate. Then head over to Oriel Plaza or Pernon Plaza to speak to the Café Manager to receive (14) Oriel or Pernon Scrolls— one scroll for every day of the event! If you’re feeling hungry, grab a bite to eat from the Café Manager. Not only will you receive one random food item, you will also receive one Patron Mark for each of your visits. Patron Marks can be exchanged for various Café rewards including your very own 30-day General Goods NPC or Warehouse Manager for your home just for frequenting the café! Stop by the Café every day of the event to pick up your free meal and a Patron Mark!
- Rewards -
For your patronage, the Café Manager offers various cafe rewards. Hire a personal Warehouse Manager or General Goods NPC for a period of 30-days or pick up a souvenir of the Staff Formal costume to remember the Café by. If you’re more of a foodie, there are Lovely Omelettes available to-go that will refill your DP bar by 2,000 points.
[Event] Brax Cafe General Goods Merchant (30 Days)
[Event] Brax Cafe Warehouse Manager (30 Days)
[Event] Staff Formal (1 hour)
[Event] Lovely Omelette Bundle
These rewards can be claimed by exchanging Patron Marks with the Café Manager any time during the event period. Café staff attires are also available on the store.
SQUEEEE!!! Finally, the proper French maid outfit!!!! SHINY!!! :D
Yarrrrrr, ahoy Daevas! My apologies for my absence, I have started a new job and haven’t had much time for playing nor posting. I hope everyone is getting nice goodies from the Alchemy Event that is currently going on! If you haven’t heard already, the event will be ending with this Wednesday’s maintenance. Continuing the 4 year anniversary festivities, we will be celebrating Talk Like a Pirate Day Thursday with the GMs. The pirate skins will be on sale in the online shop after maintenance Wednesday.
I am SO tempted to get Harley one!
The Daeva’s Day Event is supposed to pick up this Wednesday where the Alchemy Event left off. We’re still waiting on details for that one. I can’t wait to see what new goodies we get. ^_^ EDIT: Details on the event can be found here. More on the anniversary event can be found here.
It’s my first real day off in what seems like forever, so I finally got around to putting my house up for sale since winning the estate Sunday. So, if you’re on Tiamat (Asmodian side) and in the market for a house for your toon, give mine a look! :D
It’s located in Aironroost Village in Pernon (Sierra State).
The long awaited third new class to hit Aion has finally been unveiled. AionSource and Daeva’s Report shared the new video out of NCKorea featuring the new “mech” class that many were hoping to try in 4.0.
I admit, when I first heard about the class last year, I laughed and did not give it a second thought. However, after playing the new songweaver and gunslinger classes, I would like to try this one out.
A side note: yes, I love my bard, but I am constantly reminded of my chanter has remained my main — I hate playing a squishy class! And, I do miss my mantras. XD
AionSource is quick to point out that the new AetherTech class isn’t on the KR test server currently, so no one has played it … yet. According to Daeva’s Report, Korea’s PTS will launch next week, so I’m sure more information on this class is to come soon.
The class appears to be plate (?), with the suit being a mount that your character uses. DR reports that it uses “both short and long-range attacks with rail guns, blades, electric whips, gigantic fists, and even rocket launchers!”
Looks like fun to me, but many reviews I’m seeing on other Aion or gaming sites are dismissing the new class as “ridiculous.”
Personally, I want to try it. So, who’s with me? Will you roll an AetherTech in Aion 4.5?
Basically, you use a .BAT file (which by-passes the new launcher) to toggle the feature off. For those concerned, using the .BAT file to launch the game is not against the TOS as long as you aren’t using it for botting or any other nefarious activities.
Thank you, Adimus, for the following helpful info! :3
1) Open Notepad (or your favourite text editor), and paste the following two lines into a new file:
2) Save the file with a “.bat” extension (e.g. “aion.bat”) in your main Aion folder. This folder is “C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Aion" by default, but may vary depending on where you installed the game.
3) Double-click on the “.bat” file to launch Aion. You can also create a shortcut to this file on your desktop for convenience.
With the 4.0 update, the Aion executable has a new command line flag called “-megaphone”. You can confirm this by running the game from the NC launcher, and checking the “aion.bin” process in Task Manager. The flag is there by default. Removing this flag seems to completely remove the World Chat window from the game.
Old news, but you can also remove the BCM Marketplace icon by adding the “-nowebshop” flag to the command line above.
Really old news, but in case you haven’t seen the other hundred posts about this, you can run the 64-bit Aion executable by adding the “-64” flag to the command line above.
I did my first Katalam Battlefield (the new 61+ 12v12 instance, aka “new dreg”) last night. IT. WAS. FUN!
The other team put up a great fight in the beginning. They even had a bard and gunner on their team. But as the battle went on, the tables turned in our favor. We were mostly all on vent together, so it was easy to stay together and organize attacks. Halfway through, I felt sorry for the other team because several of their members dropped out, abandoning their teammates.
I definitely need to read up more on this instance. And I definitely want to run it as much as possible! :D
So, are you 65 yet? Have you created a gunner? A bard? Both?
What little I did get to play this past week has blown me away! My work schedule has been pretty demanding and I was not able to take this weekend off to play more. My only 2 days off were blown on the update fiasco Wednesday and my subsequent login issues Wednesday night through last night. I was not a happy daeva. I raged. I cried. I had a pity party. Then I drowned my sorrows in chocolate ice cream. :3
Luckily NCsoft support has come through and resolved my issue, so I was at least able to create my tiny little bard and play her a little bit. She’s only level 8 but I love her already! I stood and turned qooqoos into dancing penguins over and over, all the while giggling to my legionmates over vent. XD
I leveled Harleykinz up to 61 but sadly did not have time to do much on her. I won’t be able to play much, if any, this weekend due to work, so I’m hoping next week to get her moving around the new areas and learning where everything is. I’ve been pouring over the new armor and weapons information previously posted to Daeva’s Report during my down time and DROOLING over the screenshots all over again.
As compensation for the troubles, the Shugo Kingdom Event that was due to end in today’s maintenance has been extended. This is especially nice for those of us who’ve been unable to get in last night to get our last bit of AP and use Shugo event items. Me personally, I was too tired after work to play, as I am most days that I work, so I lamented missing out. After hearing about the extension this morning, I have been focusing on getting the new launcher going.
The solutions in the Aion forums are pretty spot on, but one thing that I think helped me out more was installing the latest version of the Microsoft .NET framework after uninstalling the old NCsoft launcher and re-installing it. Hopefully no one else needs to do this, as it’s taking forever, but if so, maybe it will help someone as it’s helped me!
So, unless you’ve been unable to get on the web at all this past weekend, you’ve likely heard that NCsoft has FINALLY given the release date for the Dark Betrayal / Aion 4.0 update. And it’s only 3 weeks away! SQUEE!!!! :D
One of my legion mates posted the news while I was at work and I hadn’t been able to really sit down and read about it until now. Massively has a HUGE article detailing not only the release, but the in-game events leading up to 4.0!
If you have not already, STOP what you are doing and GO READ IT NOW!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have more squeeing to do and need to finish reading over the article again. XD
The names of the five Fort Bliss soldiers killed in Afghanistan on Saturday have been released. The soldiers were on patrol in Kandahar province when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb.
It’s always horrible to hear about people losing their lives, and today it hits closer to home, 2 of the soldiers were people you very well may have played Aion with. Pooface and Dunks. I remember being in vent with Poo specifically running around Eltnen when the guards were up, pvping and laughing. Please pray and think of their families today. A very sad day.
Their friends and loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers. ♥
I haven’t seen a list posted anywhere and figured this was as good a place as any to share. ^_^
Ever since I started attending fort sieges way back when, I discovered that the fort quartermaster had morphing recipes that I could use to morph pretty much any gatherable from DP and corresponding form of Aether. How neat is that? (comes in handy when I’m crafting and come up just a couple mats short!)
So, I soon started keeping a list of which ones I could acquire where. When I rerolled from Elyos to Asmodian, I expanded my list to include both factions’ recipes for each fort (where applicable).
I’ve tried to make this list as complete as possible, feel free to let me know if anything is missing or incorrect!
I logged into Aion tonight and saw the following message:
I hopped over to Pandaemonium, and sure enough, this odd-looking troupe was standing in front of Temple of Gold:
Seems it’s a new event that was quietly added. From what I’ve seen, you get a daily quest for a Traveling Performer’s Die which can give you a random numbered item every 30 minutes. Numbers 1-4 can be anything from cute transformation candies to firework emotes, but the ones that are most valuable are numbers 5 and 6. If you have each of these, you combine them to receive a Shiny Gift Box. So far I’ve received a potion mix (AP mana and hp, greater healing pots, fine hp and mana, etc.) and a 4k recovery scroll.
Both numbers 5 and 6 are tradable, as well as the Shiny Gift Box. I have seen the numbers on the Broker and the boxes in stores all over Panda, so be sure to check your capital city for both the NPCs and event items for sale! Also, since the items are all level 30 and above, I am assuming that this is the minimum level for participation (I have no lower alts to confirm this). If you have level 30+ toons, be sure to do this on all of them!
Is anyone else participating in this event? If so, what goodies have you gotten so far? ^_^
I ran across this thread in the Aion forums by
Slyders of Israphel’s PsyKoPaTs. I remember these guys from my Elyos days and am happy to see a few friends are still playing. Well anyways, they are sharing one of their legion resources with the community: Aion Tool’s Character Viewer.
So far I am very impressed with this tool and though it seems to have a few bugs here and there, works VERY well for my needs: looking up other players’ gear/build. ^_^
A big thanks to Slyders and PsyKoPaTs for sharing this tool with us!
