How to: Party Cross Server for Instances

September 15, 2014 at 7:44am

Ever have a friend on another server that you wish you could take to an instance? You can! You both have to be the same faction, obviously, but this is done easily enough using the Instance Server. To form a group for an instance, you will need to go to the entrance of the instance and choose the option to look for a group in order to make one. Once the group is formed, players wishing to accompany you would go to the instance entrance and look for the group you created.

As an example, I am going to party a player on Tiamat for Nochsana Training Camp. I went to the entrance NPC in Morheim and chose "I want to look for a Group/Alliance."

Now I can post an offer. Notice that I selected only 2 members. The group is considered complete and ready to apply for entry once the group is completely filled. That means, if you only need 3 members but create a post for 6, you won’t progress further until the group is re-made, or you fill all 6 slots.

Once I click OK, other players can search for my group. This shows that my post was successful and now I’m waiting on my other group member:

This is what other potential players will see. When you find the group you want, highlight it and click Apply for Group.

You’ll be notified of applications just like you would regular groups and alliances:

Once your group is complete, you’ll notice your status will say Ready, as will other players once they have clicked their Ready button as well!

Once all group members are ready, you click Enter to begin the queueing process.

Just like with other queueing instances, such as Dredgion and Kamar Battlefield, you’ll get a notification when your instance is ready!

And, voila! You and your friends can party together in the same instance.

And don’t forget, Daevas! Once you’re in the same instance on the instance server together, you can friend them. That way, you can whisper each other to coordinate cross-server parties! ^_^

So …

After much consideration (and cajoling from old friends), I am coming back to Tiamat next week.

Kahrun was fun, but after experiencing both communities, I think I prefer Tiamat more. Here are a few of the big differences I noticed right away:

  • The PVP is more plentiful on Tiamat. That’s not to say there isn’t any on Kahrun, but it is definitely easier to find on Tiamat.
  • Less kinah spammers and bots on Tiamat. Yes, you read that right! Trust me, it’s WAY worse on Kahrun!
  • There are a greater number of English speakers on Tiamat. I didn’t realize how much Kahrun had shifted to BR and Spanish until I got over there and really started getting to know the faction. And … um … WOW. You could say it’s BR Heaven.
  • The people are generally friendlier on Tiamat. I know, shocker! But that’s been my experience personally. I *did* get to know some really great people, but those were few and far between when it came to being new to the community.
  • PVP response is better on Tiamat. And by this, I mean that if you link a zerg, people will actually come out and zerg the Elyos back. On Kahrun, you’re on your own as far as PVP goes.

I’ve already put in for my transfer; it will be happening on Wednesday.

On a whim, I decided to add a new skill to my LinkedIn profile … “Mountain Crash.” I was inspired to do this by a conversation with coworkers about the skill endorsement boxes that display whenever you visit someone’s profile. You’re basically given a random skill that person has listed and asked to endorse them for it.

So, I decided to list Mountain Crash — which is my favorite skill on my main in Aion — on my list of technical skills just to see if I get any random endorsements. So far I have two. :)

Big sale in BCM and new event

August 13, 2014 at 11:59am

Remember the survey we all took a couple weeks ago asking what we’d like to see in the Black Cloud Market and what we’d like to see discounted? Well, NCsoft has answered with this sale going on for the next 2 weeks.

Sigh … payday can’t come fast enough! XD

SO! There’s also a new event going. “Boiling Point Event” — Basically, you run instances, get drops, turn in for shiny things. Easy peasy. :)

Read up on it here!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice … but I would have preferred a mythic staff! ;)

Although, it DOES look funny to see a panda riding one! XD

How to regain the old skills icons

July 3, 2014 at 1:20pm

With the recent update that has skills displaying as the same icon regardless of level, some users actually prefer the old look of different icons for each level. If you prefer this, you can regain this feature by following the steps outlined by Stfxxtony’s post in the Aion forums (which is re-sharing info from Cristalo’s post, also in the Aion forums):

Hi. If you really want the old skills icons back, here’s how to: Copy “skills.rar” to X\NCsoft\Aion\data\usa, extract there, and..thats all!! Get skills.rar from:

Note: It’s always a good idea to make backups of your folders/files before mucking about … just in case! ^_^

Need music for your house?

June 30, 2014 at 3:48pm

Howdy, Daevas! I was perusing the Aion forums during my lunch hour today and ran across this thread introducing a new site: Aion Music Scripts.

When I sold my estate this past weekend, like a dummy I forgot to export my house scripts so I lost all my customization and songs. (oopsie!) So, I hopped onto the forums looking to replace them, as I plan on buying a place after my transfer to Kahrun this week. (SO EXCITED!)

Anyways, if you are also looking to add some music to your studio, house, estate, etc., visit the link above! ^_^
